JBMOnboard360 / Location onboarding
Franchise onboarding software
Open every new location the same way, from kickoff to go-live.
Franchise onboarding software should turn your opening playbook into a plan for each new location, with every task assigned and dated. JBMOnboard360 does that from a template. Below is a free new location onboarding checklist you can use today, in a spreadsheet or in JBM.
Two meanings
Location onboarding vs employee onboarding
"Franchise onboarding" means two different jobs. One is hiring and training hourly staff, which HR and applicant-tracking tools handle. The other is opening a new location: getting a signed franchisee or a new company unit from kickoff to a confident first day. This page covers the second.
Openings fail in predictable ways. Tasks live in one person's spreadsheet. Nobody owns the handoff between construction, systems and training. HQ finds out a location is behind when its opening date has already slipped. A good location opening checklist fixes the first problem. Software fixes the rest: owners, due dates, dependencies and one view of every opening in flight.

Timing is counted back from the go-live date. A 120-day plan suits most service brands; compress it for conversions of existing businesses. Tick items as you go, or print the page.

How it works in JBMOnboard360
From template to a dated plan in one step
In JBMOnboard360, your opening playbook becomes an onboarding template: phases such as kickoff, setup, content, training, go-live and hypercare, with tasks, owner roles and a due-date offset for each one. When a new location signs, you apply the template to that location.
- Every task is assigned and dated. Tasks go to the right owner, and due dates are set from the plan's start date. The target go-live date is set from the template's length.
- Dependencies are kept. If "load services" must come before "systems training," the plan knows.
- Training, sign-offs and milestones are task types of their own, so you can see which openings are waiting on training or approval.
- Go-live tasks can raise a change in the HQ help desk, with approvals and a rollback plan. When that change is done, the task is done. Read about the franchise help desk.
- Go-live is recorded automatically when the go-live tasks are finished, and the location's Account 360 shows the history.
- HQ sees every opening in flight on one board, by phase, so you spot slipping openings before the date moves.
Onboarding plans and Account 360 are part of Enterprise, which starts at $349 per location per month, billed annually, for 10 or more locations. See the worked costs on our CRM for franchises page, or the pricing page.
What it doesn't do
JBMOnboard360 tracks the opening plan; it doesn't manage construction drawings, permit filings or franchise disclosure documents, and it isn't an applicant-tracking system for hiring. Keep those tools, and link their milestones into the plan as tasks.
Questions
Location onboarding questions
How long does it take to open a new franchise location?
It depends on the industry, the site and local permits. Many service brands plan around three to six months from kickoff to go-live, and conversions of existing businesses can be faster. Build your template around your own past openings.
What should a location opening checklist include?
At minimum: kickoff and owners, site and build-out, systems and accounts, hiring and training, marketing and pre-opening, go-live, and a hypercare period after opening. Every item needs one owner and a due date.
Can we use our own opening playbook?
Yes. Your playbook becomes the template, with your phases, tasks, owners and timing. You can keep different templates for different formats, such as a new build and a conversion.
Who should own the opening, HQ or the franchisee?
Both, with clear lines. HQ usually owns the plan, standards, systems and training; the franchisee owns the site, hiring and local setup. Naming an owner on every task is what keeps openings on time.
Which plan includes onboarding plans?
Location onboarding plans and Account 360 are part of Enterprise, for brands with 10 or more locations, from $349 per location per month billed annually.
